Girl group KARA is threatening BoA’s stronghold in Japan only 1 year after their debut.
On August 1, Japanese record association said KARA has over 3.2 million certifications on subscription-based songs. This level is as high as BoA, who was active in Japan for 11 years.
KARA made their debut on August, 2010, and received high record sales with only 3 songs, including, ‘Mr.’, ‘Jumping’, and ‘Jet coaster love’.
BoA had the most certifications among Korean singers. She has been active in Japan for the last 11 years and has 3.65 million with 7 certified songs.
An official said, “Sales record proves a singer’s popularity in Japan. KARA is very popular among young Japanese people.”
The most interesting thing is, KARA’s sales record with their fourth single ‘Go Go Summer’, which was released on June 29, reached the top spot on the biggest music site in Japan. With the inclusion of this record, KARA will beat BoA’s sales record.
Meanwhile, SNSD recorded 1.65 million with 4 songs, and TVXQ recorded 1.55 million with 5 songs.
