The Golden Disk Awards (better known as the Korean equivalent of the Grammys) will soon be entering its 26th year, and organizers have just announced its list of nominees.
Separated into ‘Digital’ and ‘Album’ awards, the Golden Disk is known for selecting winners based on sales figures over the year. For this year’s nominees, the committee considered albums released from January 1st, 2011 to November 30th, 2011.
The 26th Golden Disk Awards will be held in Osaka, Japan on January 11th and 12, 2012 at the Kyocera Dome.

Hm in terms of album sales for STEP, it did really well but the boy groups totally got KARA beat and SNSD as well XD I hope they win something please!! My hope of them winning is a little higher just b/c it'll be held in Osaka... haha
My question is why is this to be held in Japan is this the first time the venue is outside Korea? and why is there a popularity award when its clearly awards for music not popularity. I know KARA is popular in Korea but clearly the ones from the big 3 will have the biggest chance of winning, they have tons of fans in Korea compared to us isn't that unfair?

I'm getting the impression this probably is the first time the show has been outside Korea, it's being held in Japan probably because of the recent Hallyu Wave and they are trying to branch out with these different "exotic, unique" locations like MAMA?
ReplyDeleteAll I know is KARA's on the list of attendees and I'm thinking they know something we don't know? XD lol I do remember that for this specific show, the artists have to be there to receive the award. I don't know if that's changed though. If KARA wins something, I won't question it lol

last year suju didn't get the award even though they attended, n it caused a little fanwar cuz there were big rumours that suju 'will exactly win'.

they received 2 awards according to the GDA website.. it might not have been the "big awards" but it was something.. KARA has no GDA at all lol
