I'm so happy for KARA they achieved so many things and they have been there for only a little over a year. Congrats <3!! It won't be long until they get another certification from riaj, SG is close to double platinum! :D
Don't u guys get frustrated about how our girls are getting the recognition they deserve from the japanese public and music industry in general. But at the same time, they are still sidelined or harshly put - 'snubbed' by the Korean music industry.
I mean KARA was given the honour to open for FNS - which is a pretty BIG deal! But in Korean articles reporting it, I felt that their achievement was 'downplayed' in comparison to other groups from those big companies..
but no matter, to me, KARA still reigns in my heart and even if they are snubbed, they can laugh it off ... all the way to the bank :)
In Korean music shows KARA is given top billing. They got nominated for GDA. I wouldn't say downplay but KARA isn't the first or last to show up on FNS.... BOA, TVXQ, SNSD were all there. So it's why would they make a big deal about only KARA? You kinda just want to make a big deal about it since they aren't from Big 3 in Korea. But in Japan they are from UM which is top dog in Japan. KARA is always referred to as one of the leaders of hallyu wave... they are being acknowledged... it's just they aren't the only ones.
Firstly, KARA is going to sing for the opening at Kohaku. FNS gave them the opportunity to preform 2 songs (JLC and WM), because they both were chart-toppers (AKB48 also got the same opportunity). TVXQ got the honor to sing for the closing at FNS and to collaborate on Gospel with well-respected Japanese gospellers.
Kara Members are going to open for Kohaku, because they are going to collaborate with Mana Ishida (the little fan girl). Mana personally requested the producers and her management to let her preform with KARA. Not to forget Japan has an age limit (no one below 18 is allowed to preform after 9:00) and both Mana and Jiyoung happen to underage.
Kara is popular in Japan but so are the other groups. And I don't think they are neglected by their own Kpop industry. I mean didn't STEP break sales record in Korea?
Comparing J-music industry to K-music industry is like comparing cheese to chalk. They are very different taste, style, everything..

I don't really get upset. KARA in Korea will always be a "work in progress" type of situation to me. I don't mind that because that's how KARA's always been and that hard work and defying the odds (some say) is what KARA was built on. To see their success in Japan is worth it for me. I know the girls can see and feel the acceptance from the Japanese fans and I think to them, that really sort of makes up in a way, for all the difficulties they've had when KARA was starting up. Korea doesn't throw down a red carpet for them and did/do get shocked when KARA breaks/makes records or are deemed more popular than their national group lol but I say GOOD! KARA will keep surprising them and I think that's much more interesting anyways lol
