[Info] DON'T STOP Oricon Ranking

cr| nicole_as

That happened.

Nicole_as fan acct was not happy. Fans are saying the promotions were poor for DON'T STOP. Perhaps if they originally promoted the single late last year, it would have matched more.

I did notice that besides the billboard in Shibuya and a couple of ads in magazines, there were no television appearances or televised performances. Nicole needs to have more new eyes on her in order to sell more albums. The sales are thousands lower than for Something Special. For that promotion, Nicole had lots of articles and even some television appearances.

Even though, this time around I think the concept was much more attractive to fans in Japan, the promotions switched around.

It was announced that Nicole's 1st album will be released in April, so we'll see what happens next...

  1. For some reason I was thinking she had more promotions for this single. I don't remember her on tv for something special at all & thought the promotions were poor even then. Is b2m in charge of her japanese promotions? Maybe they should have someone else handle promos. She really needs to be on actual tv performing her songs. Something Special was her debut as a solo artist so there was alot of hype and maybe that's why the sells were higher. Maybe the sales for Don't Stop will be around her norm? I hope not tho. She deserves better.

    1. CJ Victor Entertainment is in charge of her Japanese activities. She was on a couple of tv shows, GeeBee, Momo Beach Store, and the one where she visited the college. She also did radio and interviews.

  2. I agree, the promotions that were done for this round were sub-par compare to Something Special, which I can understand being that Something Special was her debut and needed the push. This being her second single, they probably thought they can rely on the support of the fans to push the release further. But with the announcement of a full album release coming out in April, that can be a reason why they held back on the promotions as well and will push and go full scale for the album promotions. I too was expecting the television appearances since she had already filmed a few things prior. I was just very surprise of the sudden announcement of the full album. I'm excited but at the same conflicted as it now hinders her eventual Korean comeback. This can make her K-fans feel a bit neglected as she seems to be focusing too much on her Japanese activities. Granted, her Japanese activities seems to be benefitting her more but we all know how K-netizens can be. I just hope she surprises us with a Korean mini album release in March or something and then comeback with a full album after her promotions for her Japanese album and mini concerts are completed. One can hope.

    1. Here's to hoping full scale for the Japanese album, after this promo cycle, I hope they see that promotions are needed to sell.

I think the Korean fans understand why Nicole is going this route, fans should want her to succeed wherever she promotes.

    2. I agree. But I can't help but feel nervous with the Korean fans. She's not very popular with the general public to begin with and now it's been more than a year since MAMA. I think Kfans move on rather quickly and there's such a tough competition in thd Kpop scene right now.Hope Collings will stick by her side no matter what.

    3. Popularity needs constant work and just from my own observations, Nicole and her company seems to be taking more of a laid back approach to promotions.

I don't know what kind of results they expect..

    4. All she needs is a really great comeback song imo. Look at G-friend. They're rookies and Knetizens aren't very impressed with their "visuals" but their song has been sweeping the charts and they're winning music shows left and right. Nicole could so easily do that. She just needs to stay away from slow, mellow songs and release a bop.

  3. Wow. For some reason I thought Don't Stop's gonna do so much better than Something Special. Hope it's just the lack of promotion rather than a decline in her popularity :( Here's to hoping things pick up come April.

  4. hope the promotion team will really work harder for her korean comeback. This comeback is even more important than her solo debut. She had been hiatus for more than 1year
