[News] KARA and other KPOP stars performing at Google Headquarters

On May 21st at 6PM PST, Google will be hosting a concert at their Mountain View, California headquarters featuring performances by K-Pop’s reigning stars including SM Entertainment‘s Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, Super Junior as well as KARA, SISTAR, MBLAQ, B2ST, and the Wonder Girls. This event will broadcast through MBC and Google.

This will be the first time that a K-Pop concert will broadcast through not only a Korean channel, but through a major internet portal like Google, evidencing the rise of K-Pop’s popularity all over the world.

A representative of the event stated, “After hearing the news that Korean artists will be performing at the Google headquarters, curiosity has peaked even among the local event organizers. I think that previous performances by Korean artists were targeted towards Korean-Americans or the Koreans living abroad, but this time its appeal will spread to all fans of pop music in the US.”

SM Entertainment artists including Girls' Generation, TVXQ, Super Junior, will join KARA, SISTAR, MBLAQ, BEAST, Wonder Girls and other top K-POP stars to perform at Google's head office in San Fransisco on May 21st, at 6PM (local time). The performances will be broadcasted via MBC and Google's Youtube channel.

This is the first time an overseas performance will be broadcasted not just through a local station, but also through a global portal site. It is also the first time that K-Pop performances at Google will be broadcasted through the internet. From this it is clear that K-Pop has become a global phenomenon.


A local representative from the event commented, "When news that Korean singers will be performing at Google's head office broke, even the concert organisers got excited. Fans who attend Korean singers' concerts are usually American-Koreans, but this time the Google performance will be targeted at local American pop fans. This proves the global appeal of Korean singers."


He added, "This will greatly increase the demand for concerts in America." The event will be invite only for those that are Google employees.
