[News] 13.01.07. Kara Drowns the Tokyo Dome in Tears at Its First Tokyo Dome Concert

As the leader of the Korean wave, Kara became the first Korean girl group to hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome on January 6.

Tears fell in this historical moment at the Karasia 2013 Happy New Year in Tokyo Dome, as the members rejoiced in their achievement, were surprised again at the 45,000-member crowd cheering for them and thought back to the difficulties they had been through in their career. As the members broke down, the audience followed suit, drowning the Tokyo Dome in a flood of tears.

Pandora was the song that fanfared the start of Kara′s first Tokyo Dome concert.

The 45,000 people in the audience immediately got to their feet when Pandora rang out, and stayed standing during the full 180 minutes of the concert. The rave continued with the songs Speed Up, Jumping and Dreaming Girl.

The solo performances were new, shocking and sincere. Goo Hara suddenly appeared onstage as a drummer in the midst of a band accompaniment, then transformed into a guitarist for the song I Love Rock N Roll.

Han Seung Yeon talked about her childhood in fluent Japanese. She said that she had dreamed of becoming a singer when she attended a concert with her friend in middle school, and sat staring at the stage at the third floor of the venue.

"It′s all still like a dream to me," she said.

She then sang Stacie Orrico′s Strong Enough, saying that it was the song she first practiced after she had become a singer.

Nicole then appeared in a red jacket to sing Bobby Brown′s Humpin′ Around, while Park Gyuri showed off her sexy tango moves with her solo single Daydream. The youngest member Kang Ji Young sang Kyoko Koizumi′s Gakuen Tengoku in a cute pink sailor suit.

Though Lupin, Step and Let It Go were sung entirely in Korean, the audience still sang along, while Girl′s Power, Winter Magic, Electric Boy, Go Go Summer and Jet Coaster Love, the popular Japanese releases that made it to the top ranks of the Oricon Charts, also garnered much support.

The tears finally started falling near the end of the concert with Han Seung Yeon.

She opened up on a dream she had three nights ago, in which she performed in a Tokyo Dome that was completely different from the passionate one she was standing in now.

She suddenly teared up, saying, "I was so worried, but now I′m thankful that so many people have come to support us."

She then turned around and spilled her tears.

Nicole also added, "I really can′t believe this. I′m nervous, and I′m happy... All of us together..."

She then promptly broke down, and said amidst her tears, "We are here thanks to all of you."

Kang Ji Young said, "Thank you for your support. Kara and you are like the wheels of a bicycle. The two wheels need to move together in order to go forward."

Goo Hara, who had been crying at the other members′ stories, said, "It′s all thanks to you that we′re here in the Tokyo Dome, fulfilling the dream that we′ve dreamt ever since our debut in Japan. We′ll never forget this day. We′ll become a Kara that sings songs that make you happy."

Park Gyuri became the last member to break down, saying, "This concert was possible thanks to you. Thank you so much."

The group then wiped its tears and continued to rock the stage with Rock U and the encores Girls Be Ambitious, SOS and Mister, promising even better days to come to the fans gathered in the Dome.

  1. Awww, by looking at the pictures, it didn't seem Nicole cried. After reading, turns out she did. xD. Must have been pretty overwhelmed since she usually tries hard not to cry in public =P. Yay KARA!
