[Trans] KARA Yozm Daum Interview Part 2

Q6a: Doesn't it also depend on each person's character? Such as active/outgoing people would be able to speak more.

[Gyuri]
It's not like that for us. In our case, the two of us (Gyuri and Seungyeon) started to learn earlier, and they (the three younger girls) are actively talking to people very often. With that practice, their skills are improving quickly.

Q6b: So Nicole can speak 3 languages. It was hard to learn Korean, was it harder to learn Japanese?

[Nicole]
Actually, learning Japanese is a lot harder, because I have to learn Japanese based on Korean, using Korean instead of English. Through the process of learning Japanese, I have also learned so many new Korean words. It would be a little bit easier for me to learn by using English, but when I started use Korean to learn the basis, comparing to others, I have realized many things. Ah, such as when we want to express something, we use this word in Korean, in Japanese, we use a different word, and then use another word to express the same thing in English; from that, I would find a common word and grammar structure to best express those 3 words. I learn a little bit slower than the other two because I have to spent time doing that process.

Q6c: So in Japan, who often answer questions from MC?

[Hara]
Seungyeon unnie, Gyuri unnie, both of them.

Q6d: How many % do you think you can understand? Can you understand everything?

[Hara]
When we first came to Japan, we only knew a very little of Japanese so we guessed while listening. It was really puzzled because we were not sure what everybody was talking about. Nowadays, since we often go back and forth between Korea and Japan, so we have got used to the language more. We can understand faster and get the point of the question quicker too.

Q6e: So you guys are no longer at the state of not being able to understand the purpose of questions or just laughing it off/acting cute when understood the question wrongly, right?

[Seungyeon]
Not really. Since we are foreigners, I think that many Japanese also found it interesting/enjoyable when we used words clumsily. However, we do not talk like that to attract more viewers; we are always trying hard to be able to speak Japanese like native speakers. I think the younger girls' Japanese is improving while the two of us are still studying diligently so that we can sufficiently understand when having conversations in Japanese.

Q7: Did you meet any Idol during the time in Japan?

[Hara]
We were in some shows together but did not have many chances to have conversation. If we met, we would only stop at the level of giving each other CDs.

Q7a: What Star do you remember the most?

[KARA]
Perfume?

[Gyuri]
We met Perfume the most often. All 3 of them are also around the same age as us. They have been around for pretty long but when we met them, we felt that they were still every innocent / pure. And since they are same age as us, we felt more comfortable and easier to understand while talking to them. They felt the same too.

Q7b: How about AKB48?

[Nicole]
We only met them 1 or 2 times. We actually did not have chance to really talk.

Q7c: so you guys don't really know who like who, right? Because I have heard that among the members, someone is a fan of KARA.

[Gyuri]
Ah, it's not like that. We actually have talked about that matter. Just that, we didn't have chance to get close to each other.

Q8: What is the saddest / happiest / most surprising thing during your trainee time or after your debut? You guys seem to have many things to talk about your hiatus before debut ^^

[Seungyeon]
The time that we got together to practice was actually really short so there weren’t many things like that. In our practice room, only sunbaenim or manager oppa were allow to wear shoes, while trainee can only wear slippers. At that time, I thought that once I debuted, I would definitely wear shoes and sit there to watch TV ^^

Q8a: Seems like that was the moment you remember the most? ^^

[Seungyeon]
I walked to the room with dignity, and of course with my shoes on ^^

Q9: Have you ever thought of getting into acting? If so, what kind of characters do you want to be?

[Seungyeon]
All 5 of us would like to get into acting, but only KARA's activities are enough to keep us very busy. We don't have any time to think of any other field. However, all 5 members have taken the main roles in a Japanese drama URAKARA. Currently, we are preparing for the filming process, but I think all 5 of us will learn a lot of valuable experiences.
(Yoo: The filming process officially finished on 2010.12.10 according to official tweet from the director.)

Q9a: all five of you will be taking the main roles?

[Seungyeon]
Yes, KARA will be acting as KARA

Q9b: So your characters in the film are also your characters in reality?
[Nicole]
It's not completely the same, but similar. Of course there are changes in the film, but still seems to suit all five of us really well.

Q9c: If you got an offer to be in an Korean drama, what role would you want to be?

[Hara]
I want to act as a student. I want to be in a movie/drama which is related to school, or takes place in school scenario.

[Seungyeon]
I think the roles of Moon Geunyoung or Park Boyoung would suit me well. Don’t you think so? ^^;; the styles seems to be suitable.

[Jiyoung]
In a Japanese movie named "Hotaru's Hope" (Hotaru no Hikari) there is Ayase Haruka, a really interesting and awesome character. I want to try a role like that.

[Nicole]
I want to play the role of Lee Dahae in "My Girl" or Song Hyekyo in "Full House", lovely characters. If not, I want a chubby and funny role such as Kim Sunah in "My name is Kim Samsoon".

Q10: you guys are really close with SNSD, so what do you mostly talk about when meeting each other?

[Nicole]
Food ^^;;

[Hara]
Me too. Or else, we would talk about our activities in Japan.

Q10a: Since when have you guys gotten so close?
[Hara]
When we participated in the same activities, such as being in the same show.

[Nicole]
I and Seohyun have gotten closer when we talked about food.

Love what SY said about not acting cute and just really trying to learn the language and understand the questions.. I think that is huge part in why KARA's gaining so many fans.. because they really care. I totally agree with SY's drama parts and Cole's haha.
